Behind The Jersey - Alexander Dewar

A series focused on Kinesiology student-athletes.

Why did you choose kinesiology?

I chose kinesiology because I have a passion for sport and active living.

Why did you choose to join the Huskies?

The University of Saskatchewan has a very good basketball program. I wanted to continue playing basketball at a collegiate level and the Huskies seemed to be the best fit for me. I have family ties to the Men’s Basketball Program as my father played for the team many years ago and my uncle is one of the assistant coaches. The most important reason why I choose to be a Huskie though was to continue playing basketball with my brother, Addison.

What is your favourite thing about basketball?

It has been one of my favourite sports since I was young. One of my favourite things about basketball is that it is a team sport and it provides the opportunity to make long lasting friendships. The other thing I enjoy about basketball is that it is an exciting fast paced game.

What is the best and hardest part?

The best part is being able to represent the university through a sport that I love. I believe the hardest part is balancing my academics with practices and games.

How do you balance school and sport?

It is not easy balancing academics and athletics. I have to use my time wisely and stay organized in order to succeed in school.

Favourite thing to do?

Spending quality time with friends and family.
