The College of Kinesiology Graduate Program offers M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in diverse areas including behavioural science, biomechanics, bone research, functional and exercise physiology, motor learning and control, and pedagogy.
Working under the supervision of the College’s talented faculty, students in the graduate program complete course work, design and execute a research project, gain teaching experience, and serve as community ambassadors.
There are many funding opportunities available to our students including Tri-Council Awards, College of Graduate Studies and Research Dean’s Scholarships, College of Kinesiology Graduate Scholarships, Graduate Teaching Fellowships, Graduate Teaching Assistantships, and Research Assistantships. Our students have been highly successful in competing for Tri-Council Scholarships (SSHRC, NSERC and CIHR).

The total maximum funding package obtained by a College of Kinesiology doctoral student was $166,000 including:
- $50,000 per year for three years from the Tri-Council Agency (Vanier Canada Scholarship)
- $12,000 in top-up funds from the College of Kinesiology
- $3000 tuition scholarship from the College of Graduate Studies and Research
- travel assistance for conferences (up to $500 twice) from the College of Kinesiology
The total typical three-year funding package for a doctoral student with a Tri-Council Award is up to $121,000 including:
- $35,000 per year for three years from the Tri-Council Agency
- $12,000 in top-up funds from the College of Kinesiology
- $3,000 tuition scholarship from the College of Graduate Studies and Research
- travel assistance for conferences (up to $500 twice) from the College of Kinesiology
A total three year funding package of $55,000 is typical for a College of Kinesiology Doctoral Graduate Student Scholarship holder including:
- $18,000 per year for three years from the College of Kinesiology
- travel assistance for conferences (up to $500 twice) from the College of Kinesiology
Master’s students in our program usually receive funding at the following levels
- $30,000 over their two year program (College of Kinesiology Graduate Student Scholarship)
- $15,688 over their two year program (Teaching Assistantship)
- $10,000 over their two year program (Graduate Student Assistantship)
- travel funding assistance is also available to M.Sc. students (up to $500 once)
